Training and Background


Dr. van Rooyen is a licensed psychologist in the state of California (PSY18256). He graduated from Loma Linda University in 1994. He attended Fuller Graduate School, Fuller Theological Seminary and graduated with a M.A. in Psychology, a M.A. in Theology, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (2000). Training experiences included a clerkship at City of Hope National Medical Center, a preinternship at the UCLA HELP Group Neuropsychology program, and a internship at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at The Neurodevelopment Center, the consulting neuropsychology program to Primary Children’s Medical Center at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He subsequently returned to a faculty position at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles where he trained and supervised psychology interns in  neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment. Dr. van Rooyen has been married for 25 years and has two sons, ages 17 and 19. His outside interests include cycling, surfing, and the outdoors.
